Although pad-mounted enclosures elevate the cabinet above ground level, they remain vulnerable to rain, standing water, moisture, silt, temperature fluctuations, and ground contaminants. Designs must account for top drainage, door sealing, base elevation, foundation drainage, cable entry fittings, and cabinet-to-base joints.

For enclosures with bottom cable entry or access points, verify that standing water cannot pool near interfaces. Joints between the base and foundation must align with drainage flow and sealing specifications to prevent moisture ingress along fasteners or cable paths.

Outdoor deployment also requires assessing solar exposure, UV radiation, condensation, salt spray, and temperature cycling. Selection of materials, coatings, gaskets, fasteners, and locks must match site conditions. Specific IP/NEMA ratings require verification across the complete assembly, not just the mounting method.
