Large enclosures often house diverse electrical devices of varying weights. Heavy components like VFDs, power assemblies, transformers, or large terminal blocks require mounting plates, frames, or reinforced bases with sufficient load capacity, rather than thin sheet metal or single rails.

Layout planning must also account for the center of gravity. Placing too many heavy components on doors or high sections risks stability during transit, operation, and field installation. Placing heavier equipment near the base and main supports improves stability, while still respecting thermal dissipation and wiring needs.

Maintenance clearance is equally critical. Terminal blocks, breakers, controllers, and frequently inspected modules should stay easily accessible. Demountable equipment needs withdrawal or replacement clearance, and wire ducts must not block nameplates or terminals. The benefit of a large enclosure lies in simpler maintenance alongside higher capacity.
