Before prototyping an IP68 enclosure, specify dimensions, weight, internal layout, door count, material, sheet thickness, gaskets, locks, hinges, cable glands, and mounting methods. For outdoor galvanized products, also confirm plating, cut edges, welds, and surface treatments. For stainless steel, confirm material grade, welding, and surface finish.
Before testing, define immersion depth, duration, temperature, pressure, sample orientation, and test standards. Confirm the sample includes production-intent doors, fittings, connectors, viewing windows, and mounting accessories. Testing priorities differ between single- and double-door designs; wall-mount products must also account for brackets and wall interfaces within the validation scope.
If water jet, spray, temperature, vibration, corrosion, or mechanical impact tests are also required, list them separately. Final documentation should only cite IP68 claims verified by technical data or test reports, avoiding generalizing single-test results to all environmental ratings.
