Doors and frames face the most direct water impact during washdowns. Frames should remain continuous and smooth, minimizing water-trapping or dirt-collecting grooves. Gaskets must cover primary seams and maintain uniform compression when closed. For wide doors, factor in long-term sagging and shifting lock-point stress.

Locks, hinges, handles, and accessories must not break seal continuity. Frequent washing can leave detergent residues around hinges and locks, so ensure easy drainage, cleaning, and maintenance. Adding displays, pushbuttons, or viewing windows requires re-evaluating cutout rigidity and sealing.

Washdown design should not rely solely on gaskets. Enclosure bends, welds, door flatness, latch compression, and site installation accuracy all affect sealing performance. Inspect frame areas after closing, latching, and washdown testing under actual assembly conditions before delivery.
