Locks restrict external access, so each door opening should maximize inspection and operation efficiency. Zone internal components by power, control, terminals, communication, and maintenance areas to prevent obstructing critical parts. Place breakers, terminals, and frequently inspected components where they are immediately visible and accessible when opened.

If door-mounted pushbuttons, displays, or meters are used, provide sufficient cable slack to prevent strain during opening. Ensure closed-door clearance between internal equipment and lock rods, handle backs, or door accessories. For enclosures installed at height or in tight spaces, verify ergonomic access and tool clearance with the door open.

Technicians must also inspect locks, grounding, terminals, and wiring without extensive disassembly. Modular mounting plates, DIN rails, and removable subpanels optimize layouts but must integrate seamlessly with locks, doors, and sealing boundaries.
