"Washdown" is not a single operating condition. Methods vary widely—low-pressure hoses, targeted sprays, high-pressure wands, foaming, hot water, or CIP with chemicals—each impacting enclosures differently. When selecting, record water pressure, nozzle type, spray angle, distance, wash duration, temperature, and frequency.

Enclosure location also matters. Water may cascade from above, hit doors directly from the side, or rebound off floors into the base. Surrounding foam, oil, dust, and residues also affect gasket and drainage choices. Defining these details clarifies the needed door design, seals, cable entry, and materials.

For unknown site conditions, evaluate against worst-case scenarios and request test boundaries from suppliers. Never assume "waterproof" or "washdown" covers every cleaning method.
