The protection rating of an IP56 enclosure depends on multiple structural factors. Door-to-body fit, gasket continuity, latch compression, hinge placement, cable glands, and cutouts all affect dust and water ingress risks.
Since IP56 must resist powerful water jets, cable entries, viewing windows, pushbuttons, connectors, and access doors must account for jet direction, sealing pressure, and drainage, not just installation convenience. Gland specs, counts, and mounting methods must be clearly defined in engineering drawings.
If using fans, filters, or other vents, evaluate their impact on dust and water ingress. Verify the overall ingress protection rating on the fully assembled enclosure according to the target configuration.
