Designing welded stainless steel IP57 enclosures requires focusing not only on material selection, but also on weld continuity, corner geometry, sheet distortion, door fit, and surface finishing. For high-integrity enclosures, weld continuity and integrity directly impact the risk of water and dust ingress.

Thermal distortion during welding must be controlled to prevent adverse effects on overall dimensions, door gaps, mounting holes, and gasket compression. Post-welding processes—such as grinding, cleaning, passivation, brushing, or other surface treatments—should be specified based on material grade and aesthetic requirements.

A welded stainless steel structure does not automatically ensure IP57 compliance. Doors, hinges, locks, viewing windows, cable glands, and removable panels must all be engineered cohesively and verified via fully assembled testing.
