Wall or substrate strength directly affects surface-mount enclosure stability. Before installation, verify if the wall is concrete, masonry, lightweight partition, or metal framing, and inspect for voids, cracks, moisture, or unevenness. Different substrates require compatible expansion anchors, bolts, rivets, or support structures.

If housing heavy components such as circuit breakers, VFDs, power modules, or terminal blocks, the mounting design must factor in equipment weight, operating forces, and transport or vibration loads rather than just empty enclosure weight. For larger or deeper enclosures, evaluate bottom supports, side brackets, and wall load capacity, adding freestanding frames or reinforced backplates if necessary.
