Meter boxes typically need to allow easy meter reading and inspection while restricting unauthorized access to metering wiring and internal equipment. Viewing windows reduce door openings, but their position, size, and transparent material must match the meter display area without compromising enclosure sealing or structural strength.

Specific lock and seal designs should be confirmed per utility, property management, or project metering requirements. Some projects may require separating the metering, incoming, and load-side protection compartments with independent doors, locks, or sealing provisions. Multi-door structures add frames and center seams, requiring simultaneous review of sealing and maintenance access.

Seals do not replace standard locks or inherently provide tamper resistance. Where risks of malicious tampering or public-area impacts exist, assess door stiffness, hinge protection, fasteners, and mounting height. All lock, seal, and window cutouts must be clearly defined in manufacturing drawings.
